The Academy of Film Arts at The Institute for the Arts at Greenway meets  one day a week after school.  This group, also known as "in-Focus" has the fun task of creating a series of short films and one feature length film that will be screened during the year.  The student filmmakers go through the entire process of making a movie.  Guided and mentored by a Greenway Teaching Artist, students write original scripts, hold auditions, produce, direct, edit and score their own projects.

Over the course of the year students are instructed in five main areas:

  • Storytelling
  • Directing
  • Cinematography / Photography Principles
  • Sound and Lighting
  • Editing
Within each each of these areas the students will gain a strong grasp of the basic and intermediate principles and should have the ability to intern on a film set by the end of the year.  Students will be able to network with industry professionals to get a true understanding of what a career in film means.  Students will also have a body of work to showcase and add to an online academic portfolio.

This program uses a wide variety of cameras and other professional film equipment.  For more information on this program email info@greenwayartsalliance.org
