Initiated in the Fall of 2010, the Academy of Dance Arts at Greenway Arts Alliance welcomes Fairfax High School students interested in studying the art of dance and the wide variety of genres this art form encompasses.  Students who seek to enter the program must be committed to participating in the process of learning, rehearsing and performing.

Over the course of the school year, academy dancers will explore modern/jazz, world/ethnic, folk, yoga/pilates, mime, ballet and contemporary dance.  Students will also study staging, choreography, dance history, make-up, costumes and acting for dancers.  Academy dancers will have the opportunity to perform several times throughout the year.

The goal of this program is to strengthen not only the technical skills of the dancer, but to enhance the students perception of the art form and to encourage the exploration of a career in dance.  Thanks to our generous supporters and donors, The Academy of Dance Arts at Greenway is tuition free for students enrolled at  Fairfax High School.
